Our Vision
To provide an efficient and economical integrated solid waste management program through recycling, litter abatement, collection, transporting and disposal services for residents and businesses in unincorporated DeKalb County and municipalities through intergovernmental agreements.
Our Mission
The DeKalb County Sanitation Residential service area includes the unincorporated limits of the County and the City of Lithonia. The Collection Division is to facilitate cost effective, timely and high quality solid waste collection and transportation services, and to ensure an aesthetically pleasing community for the residents and commercial entities within the unincorporated limits of DeKalb County to work, live and play.
Many municipalities within the county (Avondale Estates, Chamblee, Clarkston and Decatur) collect and transport their own residential solid waste to approved transfer facilities and landfills within the county. Other municipalities (Atlanta, Doraville, Pine Lake and Stone Mountain) use private garbage haulers to collect transport and dispose of residential solid waste. Commercial collection service is provided through franchise contract or open market competition within the incorporated municipalities. DeKalb County Sanitation provides commercial collection in the unincorporated areas of the county. |
