Sheryl Chapman
Sheryl Chapman serves as the Director of DeKalb Workforce Development. She is responsible for designing programs that increase occupational skills, employment, retention, and earnings of participants, which improves the quality of workers, reduces welfare dependency, and enhances the productivity and competitiveness of DeKalb’s workforce.
As an experienced certified Project Management Professional, Sheryl spent 15 years with public and private sector organizations. She led several project teams to successfully implement multi-billion dollar, revenue generating products in the telecommunications industry. Moving from the corporate arena, she began her career with DeKalb County Government in the Office of Economic Development, where she streamlined the development permitting process, authored a county-government business resource guide (The Toolbox), managed a portfolio of 150+ landed active commercial projects, and served as lead representative for retail recruitment.
Sheryl attained her undergraduate degree from Tennessee State University and a master’s degree in Administration from Central Michigan University.

The department not only assists adults and dislocated workers with WIA-funded training and job searching; it also assists DeKalb County’s youths by providing them the tools needed to be successful in today’s ever-changing workforce. |
