Darrell T. Black
Darrel T. Black served as CIO for Benedict College in Columbia, S.C., where he oversaw the college's information technology systems including online student services, electronic file storage, online courses, and asset security. He also worked for 8 years in the Office of the Chief Information Officer for the State of South Carolina finance, project management, marketing, and governmental affairs.
Darrell Black earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics and computer science from Delaware State College and a Master of Science and Management Technology degree from Georgia Institute of Technology.
Departmental Summary - Information Systems
The mission of DeKalb County’s Information Systems Department is to provide reliable, cost effective, and innovative services to the departments and agencies of county government, thereby improving the quality and timeliness of services delivered to employees and citizens.
The Information Systems Department provides technology support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year to approximately 60 departments and agencies. The department has a robust and secure technology infrastructure which includes a comprehensive suite of software applications which they maintain and support including: PeopleSoft, Hansen, and Oracle E-Business Suite. Information technology support and services are provided to critical facets of county services including Police, Fire & Rescue, and Watershed Management. The department also manages the County’s telecommunications network. |
