DeKalb County Senior Olympics

The DeKalb County Recreation, Parks & Cultural Affairs Department invites all men and women 50 years of age and older to come and participate in this wonderful senior athletic event.  There are over 16 events and team sports offered.  Our mission is to promote healthy lifestyles for seniors through fun, fitness, and play.

The Benefits
We are proud to be able to help promote healthy lifestyles for adults, particularly seniors of 50 years and older.  It's no secret that baby boomers have entered their golden years and are becoming more conscious about health and the way they age.  Staying fit and active is the best answer to aging.  The games provide an excellent way to maintain or improve physical and mental condition as well as coordination, while enjoying some friendly competition.  Plus, you meet new friends, engage the whole family in the fitness mode and you can become a volunteer, too!

More about the Games
The DeKalb Senior Olympics, based in DeKalb County began in 1986 as a recreation center program for seniors attending the Mason Mill Recreation Center.  DeKalb's first Senior Olympics hosted 50 athletes and as years have passed the participation has increased immensely.  The DeKalb Senior Olympics now host up to 300 male and female athletes, ages 50 years and older.  The oldest athlete to ever compete was 89.
