The Park and Recreation Departmental staff provides quality services for your picnic and leisure outing needs.  Please take the time to read the Park Rules and Guidelines before completing and submitting the form provided below.  We require at least 15 days notice of your planned event in order to process your request.  Thanks for your interest in our DeKalb County parks and please keep us in mind when planning your future leisure outings.

Rules and General Guidelines
  • DeKalb County Park Rules and Ordinances

  • DeKalb County parks with pavilion are available on a first come, first serve basis A pavilion reservation (permit) entitles the permit holder to exclusive use of the pavilion for those dates and time indicated on the permit. 

  • Pavilion (may be reserved by anyone eighteen years of age or older. Reservations can be made online or by calling (404) 371-2036.

  • All reserving parties are limited to one reservation per month, per shelter. Reservation requests will be handled in the order that they are received.

  • Once the reserving party makes the selection, the site will be tentatively scheduled.

  • Payment is due 2 weeks from the confirmation date.

  • The Reservation Agreement and all applicable documents must be returned along with payment to the Park and Recreation Department by the specified due date in order to guarantee the reservation.

  • The reservation application and agreement documents and fees which are not received by the specified due date will be cancelled without notice.

  • Applicants may not advertise event on radio, and fliers,

  • Alcohol is prohibited at a county park; applicant(s) may apply for a permit

  • Selling and or charging admission is prohibited at a County park.

  • ELECTRICAL service may NOT be available at all shelter location.
  • RESTROOMS are only available at Exchange and Wade Walker Park. Portable toilets are to be used at parks where restroom facilities are not available, if the group size or situation warrants. The cost of restrooms will be included in the total cost.
Refund Policy
  • APPLICANT MUST NOTIFY THE PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT (ten) 10 DAYS PRIOR TO THE SCHEDULED RESERVATION DATE IN ORDER TO RECEIVE REFUND.  NO REFUNDS GIVEN FOR PERMIT PAYMENTS (Playfield, Open field, Amplified Device, Vendor, Alcohol).

Security Information
DeKalb County Parks and Recreation will determine the need for security at an event.  It is the responsibility of an applicant to pay for security.  Mark Bowman, Parks Security Coordinator, will secure officer(s) once the event is approved and all fees paid.

Special Vendor Permits
A permit must be obtained for vendors, (i.e. inflatable, food etc) alcohol, and open fields if applicable.  All vendors must provide a Certificate of Insurance in the amount of $1,000,000, and pay a vendor fee.

Hold Harmless Clause
The County shall not be liable to user’s employees, agents, invitees, licensee, visitors, or to any other person for injury to person or damage to property on or about the leased premises caused by the negligence or misconduct of user, its agents, servant or employees, or of any other person entering upon the leased premises under express or implied invitation by user, or caused by the building improvements located on the leased premises becoming out of repair, or caused by leakage of gas, oil, water, smoke, or steam or by electricity emanating from the leased premises. Applicant agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the County from any loss, attorney’s fees, and expenses or claims arising out of any such damage or injury.

The applicant ensures compliance with the following:
  • The observance of applicable laws and ordinances;
  • Any stipulations or restrictions of the Park and Recreation Department
  • Any stipulations or restrictions by DeKalb County Police Services.
