In 2011, the DeKalb County Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and the Board of Commissioners established an Animal Services Task Force to develop strategies for reducing the high euthanasia rate of healthy or treatable animals and to improve the quality of life for animals in DeKalb County.
In March 2012, the CEO presented the Task Force’s recommendations to the Board of Commissioners. The Task Force’s recommendation to relocate the animal shelter to a new facility is currently in the implementation process.
This web site is dedicated to providing stakeholders with a central point for tracking the project’s status. As project documents are developed, they will be made available via this site.
